Our Story

Jason and Avery

Faith, family, and farming - that is what JAE Farms is all about.

Jason grew up in the country, and I (Avery) grew up on an irrigation farm. So it was only natural that we would both want to live the farm life. As newlyweds, we had purchased a quarter of land, but farming it ourselves wasn't feasible. Then, in 2014, we took the plunge and started JAE Farms.

The farm started by making square hay bales for our own animals, and selling the extra. We discovered that there was a high demand for hay, so we decided to start expanding. As well as expanding the hay operation, a growing public interest in farm-raised products encouraged us to start raising market hogs and poultry.

That has led us to where we are today. Square hay bales are still our main focus, and in 2020 we were able to add round bales to our product list. Our livestock sales have also grown throughout the past few years. We still raise pigs and chickens, and we have since added beef, turkeys, and eggs to the farm. Needless to say, we are strong believers in diversification!

While our farm was growing, the Lord blessed us with two beautiful children. This added a new twist, as now we needed to incorporate small children into our farming life (and life in general). It's an ongoing challenge, but we wouldn't have it any other way. Our dream has been to raise our family on the farm, and we get to live that dream every day.

While farming itself can be quite difficult, starting a farm from scratch presents its own challenges. However, it can also be extremely rewarding. Our goals with our social media presence and website are to: 1) share our faith, 2) advocate for agriculture, and 3) show that it's possible to combine farming with raising a young family.
